At Andrew Kerr Care creating living, care and community moments has always been a priority for us. This has been a challenging time for everyone in the community and our priority is on the wellbeing of our residents, clients, staff and volunteers. Our goal has been to minimise the risk of exposure and prepare to respond to the possibility of an outbreak.
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we have implemented numerous protocols to prevent and protect our residents and staff.
This includes but not limited to:
(1) Additional education and training
(2) New clinical procedures including an updated Outbreak Management Plan
(3) Restricted visitor access and implemented symptoms and temperature screening
(4) Increasing our casual pool of staff
Included in our preparations for COVID-19, we have created an area of 4 single resident bedrooms and a lounge room that is contained with only fob access, which means we can manage the risk of transmission to other residents and staff in the units if we are required. Staff working in this area would not working in any other areas of Andrew Kerr.
If there is a confirmed COVID-19 case, Andrew Kerr Care will go into lockdown until the Public Health Unit advises us this can be declared over. No visitors will be allowed during this time, except under exceptional end-of-life circumstances. This is consistent with advice from health authorities.
We aim to implement daily SMS messaging to the next of kin of residents for another regular communication channel.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Andrew Kerr Care.
