Emma Baker is an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN) at Andrew Kerr Care and she plays a key role in our interdisciplinary care team. Emma has recently made the successful transition from a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to an EEN and we are very proud of her achievements.   1. How long have you been working as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Emma?

  1. Why did you decide to study to become an EEN?

I wanted to be able to make more of a difference in the lives of the residents I was looking after. I also wanted a better understanding of the illnesses and diagnosis of my residents.

  1. What was the hardest aspect of working while studying?

Trying to fit it all in!! I was at school 3 days per week and worked 4 days. Placement was also hard as I couldn’t work as much.

  1. What do you love about being an EEN?

Every shift is different, there is never a dull moment! I constantly feel like I’m learning every day. I love the relationships I’ve formed with the residents.

  1. What would you tell a person thinking about applying for a job at AKC?

Go for it!! Everyone is so lovely here to work with and our care is definitely the best.
