Kerry, a Personal Care Assistant at Andrew Kerr Care says her ideal holiday is to go somewhere sunny and relaxing, with great views, a great tropical background, and lots of nice food!
What do you like to do at this time of year? Do you enjoy a staycation or prefer to book a ticket to an exotic location?
Sadly, many older people spend the Christmas holiday period alone. Most of us want to do the very best for our older relatives but the reality is that our changing lifestyles, financial stress and demands of our families make this very difficult. Years ago, many families stayed in the same area or community. Even if we married, we generally moved to a suburb close by. In modern times, children, nieces and nephew have moved away from their older parents or relatives, many for work reasons.
How many times have you heard people say, “they long for the good old days”?
If you’re providing support to an older person living at home, your wellbeing is just as important as the person you are providing care to. Carers need to take care of themselves also. So, if you need to get things done or take a break for a while, we have you covered.
